Saturday's event was fun, and
robomarkov shot a video or two. I do believe this one is the first time I've ever gotten to see a video of myself dancing. It is pretty long, and a bit of a crowded floor, but fun none the less. I am the one in the red floral kaftan with the green and gold veil. Countess Mariana is in the white and blue floral kaftan with the red belt and white veil. Posadnitsa Ianuk is in the green kaftan with the blue veil, and Dutchess Asa is in the blue shirt and green mintan with the white veil. There are all sorts of other folks I do not know the names for dancing as well.
Some of us sort of got the giggles and had to leave the floor because we got it in our heads that the rhythm sounded a bit too much like a cha-cha. I'm a dork.

Yesterday in the middle of trying to find fabric in Joanne's I got the call that Master Yehuda had passed away. He was one of the kindest and charming men I had met in a long time. One of those people you never want to lose or let go of. He very much made the SCA in Atenveldt a special and welcoming place for everyone, and carried so much on his big shoulders. We will be missing him and his greatness of spirit for years to come.
He never failed to find me at an event and give me a kind word and a hug. I don't think I managed to spend all the time I should have just chatting with him. I will miss you Papa Huda.
I know this song was written for Master Aldwin, but it sortof works for Master Yehuda as well and has been running through my head since yesterday.
Drop my name in Heaven

(spoken) An elegy for a noble man should be solemn and refined.
(singing)But this song is for Aldwin, so I hope that he won't mind
If I share with you my honest thoughts and great deeds that he spoke
Of barons and belly-dancers and all his favorite folk
Chorus
Hey there Master Aldwin, hear a prayer from me.
Drop my name in Heaven or wherever you might be.
Hope I'm on your short list of people good to know.
So I can get a good seat when its my time to go.
I know he'll get to heaven, despite his devilish grin.
He's chatting with important folk as the Saints go marching in.
He's waiting at those pearly gates with the other penitents.
I know he'll line 'em up by name and Order of Precedence.
"Hark" the herald angels sing. They finally got their boy!
His thunderous voice will join with theirs when they call out for joy.
His "vivats" were tremendous when he walked on the ground.
But now that he can fly he'll make a super-sonic sound.
They say that Heaven's like a dream where all good things come true.
That means that all the time now he can smoke and drink and screw.
Or sit naked in the hot-tub whilst snowflakes gently fall
With ladies nibbling on each ear and bouncing on his (pause) knee.
I don't think that he'll play the harp, though he might ring some bells.
And amaze the other angels with the tall tales that he tells.
He'll never have to dust the clouds or harmonize the spheres
(spoken)"I have people to do that for me" he'll say. "That's why God made Peers."

At least until the next one comes along...
I love big dinners, big pile the family and friends around the biggest table you can find and eat fantastic food garnished with lovely conversation dinners. The sort of dinners you dig out the china and the good silverware just because you can. Easter Sunday was one of those dinners. I had my heart set on having a big get together and achieved it.

weavedancer and
dverning showed up early and were a huge help in getting ready. Sarah jumped right in and helped with the cooking, and she and Bill both helped with the set up.
Sunday was a perfect evening in Tucson for a dinner outside. 72F and a light breeze the day after a rain. Perfection. We moved our dining table out to the back porch and mated it with 2 of our folding tables along with
raventhourne's folding table and 18 chairs. Note for folks planning something like this, old curtains that are nice and when not in use covering windows, make very awesome table cloths. We got out my grandpa's old china and the silver ware and set the table as folks gathered. We ended up with 17 people including the kids. It was great!

It was a mighty impressive table once all the food was on it.
Folks got to eat their fill and visit and we finished the evening watching Bolt. Leftovers were divided up and everyone went home by 9:30pm. Just a great time and a great evening.

Here are the images of the finished coronation clothing.
Included in the album are scans of the sketched designs and a couple progress shots of the fabrication of the striped fabric.
Yes the Blue and Yellow is 2 colors of linen cut on the bias and resewn into a new sheet of fabric then recut into pattern shapes.
Walric's tunic was the easy part of the project.

Her gown has roughly 60 hand made buttons to close the front and the sleeves which extend to cover the entire top of her hand. The bodice area of the gown and the sleeve ends are lined in white linen and the painted guard is made of white linen.
One of the aspects of the gown that I did not notice till I saw photos, is actually one of my favorites. The spiral striped sleeve of the gown lines up perfectly with the stripes of the body to create chevrons.
The stripes on the side of the gown were deliberately lined up to fall as they did and I am so pleased with the effect.

and just check out the beautiful guard

Why can no one tell us apart?
On the left is Ari; Mistress of the Laurel, red hair, blue eyes, a bit taller, 4 and a bit months younger
On the right is Haley; Mistress of the Pelican, Countess, black hair, green eyes
Trading off on who is the evil twin is fun
We traded outfit styles for the event. Doesn't she look great in Persian*?
*(corrected because one cup o coffee does not make me all coherent.)

I love all my engineers and my dad the rocket scientist.
These guys have badges!
ORDER OF THE SCIENCE SCOUTS OF EXEMPLARY REPUTE AND ABOVE AVERAGE PHYSIQUE
I know that dad has earned their - “I AM actually a freaking rocket scientist” badge.
For members who can utter the phrase “It’s not rocket science” with authority.

Tomorrow
Yes Ianuk, tomorrow you can has laurel.
I got to listening to all my old favorites, and got to thinking of my girlfriend Lou who introduced me to some of the most amazing music and artists I still love to this day. She ended up losing her fight with Breast Cancer and I miss her deeply. She sang at my wedding. So to keep her around I share her music.
We will start with Richard Shindell and "Are You happy Now?"
---- which just happens to be the worlds best breakup song
Moving on we find Richard Thompson an "1952 Vincent Black Lightening"
---- I love his voice and think he is a certifiable genius with a Guitar.
And Dar Williams "If I wrote You"
---- She brings the full range of emotion to her music and has a beautiful voice
John Gorka "Flying Red Horse" starts at 1:48
---- Great song about the Mobil pegagus escaping
We finish with Steeleye Span and "Cam Ye O'er Frae France"
---- Lou could belt out this song with the best of em

Showing off Ivan's Knighting scroll at scribble and watching Markov and Anya spend the next hour and a half translating Mistress Cecelia's Russian text and hearing them fuss over words.
You should install a small bottle of bubbles on your desk somewhere.
When the stress and stupid folks get to be too much.
Take a break and blow a few bubbles. Watch them pop and enjoy the simple silly interlude.

That means that my apprentice and her sister get one year older.
I would wish her happy birthday on the correct day, planned to infact, but they will be on the way to Pennsic. Getting up way too early to get through the airport insanity, catching a lift to site, and then getting rather drunk.
Sibilla
Have some choco-milk and think of me. Throw a shot of Frangelico in it and have a proper drink. Enjoy your war. Enjoy your birthday. Then come on home and tell me all the stories.
Just remember...
"You can't think, you can't talk, you can't drive! Gimme the keys."
Hugs and Happy birthday you two.
